in july 2005 i was diagnosed with graves disease.
i knew something wasn’t right but i figured it was stress related. plus i had been to my doctor twice about symptoms that seemed weird but not horrible. he also figured it was stress. at the time i was doing a masters degree and doing a part time retail job. it got weird when i’d be showing a customer something and my hands were shaking so much the customer would say something. i always blamed drinking too much coffee when really i knew there was something wrong.
finally at a routine physical (with a different doctor), i was told my thyroid was enlarged so i should get a scan & blood test. that’s when i found out i had graves disease.
for a little over 2 years i took neomercazole & became ‘normal’. when you looked at my test results i was normal but i never felt like i did prior to the diagnosis. recently i stopped the pills to see if i was in remission. 2 months off and my t4 has jumped considerably, t3 increased and tsh dropped.
frequently over the last 2 years i wished i had taken better care in logging all my symptoms. now that i’m starting it all again, i’ve started this blog.
i also hope this blog might be helpful for others looking for information. comments welcome.
